As someone who didn’t particularly like the books. I was very surprised by how good this movie was. The movie was, dare I say, better than the book. Which speaks volumes about Stephanie-what’s-her-name’s writing ability. I always say “Don’t judge a book by its movie”… but with this particular flick, you can.
Howz about a flippant Clarabelle-style movie review, eh?
Hair and makeup:
- The wigs were bad. Like Lifetime Original Movie bad.
- Kristen Stewart’s weave, however, was A-mazing!
- Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) looked fabulous.
- Perhaps a little overzealous with Pattinson’s under-eye circles? Not cute.
- Um, Mr. Lautner was just all around fantastic looking. That is all.
The Acting
- Kristen Stewart proved that better hair and makeup can make you appear to be a talented actress. (Though, would it kill the girl to smile… just once?)
- I have no idea what Rob-Patt was even doing. Good thing he wasn’t in it for much.
- Lautner stole the show. Do your arms hurt, Taylor? Cuz you carried this movie.
- Speaking of stealing the show… is it just me or are Jacob’s pack of werewolves way more fun than those dry, boring Cullens?
- Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) was also adorable. She is made for this role.
- The supporting vampires where actually good, not cheesy, and not downright dirty-looking. Bravo!
- Bella Swan’s classmates (esp. Jessica) were fantastic!
The Production
- Soooo much better than Twilight. New Moon actually looked and sounded like a real movie (not a made-for-TV one like Twilight did… yes, I’ll say it. Twilight was wretched.)
The Story
- Delightfully true to the book… except better.
- A little rushed at times, but the book WAS 500+ pages. So it is to be expected.
That is all. Let me know how you felt about New Moon… don’t try to hide it. I know you saw it.

Stumble It!

I haven’t seen it yet, nor have I read the book, but Taylor’s 18 year old hotness is forcing me to the theater. I’ll be back to comment after I see it. Love that “arms hurt” comment! Hiw was little miss blondie what’s her face??
I haven’t read the books, but i loved new moon! too bad Taylor Lautner is dating Taylor Swift
I agree with a lot of what you said Clare. You actually made me realize a lot as I read your comments. I do agree that the wolves were more appealing (as actors and characters) in this movie than the vamps. Also…totally agree about Edward’s eyes! Way too much and he looked too sickly after seeing Jacob the entire film. Also, the producers really did do a great job considering the book was so long. I do felt like everything was rushed, but I know that they can only fit in so much in a movie. Over all it was great and I liked the new development with Alice and Jacob being more a part of the series.
I am sooo glad New Moon is better than Twilight! New Moon was my fave book of the series. I am seeing it this wekend. Great review
I’ve not seen this movie or the other one. I’m not read any of the books. I hear about it all the time from family and friends.
I love this and that picture (hotties!) and I can’t wait to see this movie. I think I’m going Wednesday!
Lol. I guess it doesn’t hurt that you have handsome guys all over the movie either though.
Funny picture Clare !
I agree with you on all counts. New Moon > Twilight. And to this day I have no effing clue why they cast Kristen Stewert for this role. She sucks so hard.
Fab pic and review, darling!

Great review. I never got round to reading the books, but absolutely loved the Twilight movie. I can’t wait to see ‘New Moon’ now.
Haha. Love the black and white photo.
I’ve never been remotely interested in Twilight, but I must say whenever I see the trailer, I want to go see it… just out of curiosity. I’ll eventually see it after I watch Twilight!

haha, I love the picture for this post. The movie definitely reached my expectations and was by far a lot better than twilight. Unfortunately some of the acting bugged me throughout. Especially Kristen Stewart’s. She really isn’t right for the role! As much as I love her.
OMG! This is FANGTASTIC!:))
Great post Clare!

Haven’t read the books yet…not sure I really want to but will surely see all the movies…
I know I’ll be chastised by his fans but I truly don’t get the whole Edward thing. LOL, maybe it’s cause I’m just not into pasty
I really enjoyed the movie.. But im surpirsed you didnt like the books, I read all of them they are amazing and way more detailed then the movie
my friends didnt read the books and saw the first movie and didnt understand a lot of the second because of the lack of details from the book
I enjoyed the movie and bella looked a lot better in this movie (I do agree with you it wouldnt kill kristen to smile)
I didnt like her “future vampire” scene with her and edward skipping through the woods lol nope
What is with Kristen and her perma-scowl??
