I actually spotted Elie Saab’s S/S 2012 Collection on Pinterest. It. Is. Gorgeous. I can’t decide if I like the collection because the colors are so soft and lovely, or if I love it because A-line/Ball Gown dresses are literally the greatest, most flattering shape ever!

So amazingly GORGEOUS, right?!

One time, I went to Dry Bar — A Review

Last week, I went to Dry Bar with my coworkers. What is Dry Bar, you ask? It is a hair salon where they ONLY do blowouts. So don’t go in there asking for a cut and this season’s hottest color. That would be silly and the receptionist will probably laugh at you for not paying attention to tiny details like what actually goes on at Dry Bar.

Anyhow, my coworkers were all super excited about going and getting team blowouts at Dry Bar and I wasn’t — at all. I think this is because I am a black female. If you are not a black female, I challenge you to a — er, challenge. Tomorrow, go up to your closest black female friend and ask her to tell you a story about her hair. I can pretty much 100% guarantee that she will regale you with such tales of love, loss, triumph, woe, misery, pain and affliction that the Hunger Games will look like the Babysitter’s Club…. Seriously.

So you can understand why I wasn’t exactly jumping for joy about going to get my hair done by a stranger at a salon that only does blowouts and has a website that is strikingly homogeneous. But love conquers all, y’all. And because I love my coworkers I decided I would go with them. Even if I emerged from the salon closely resembling Don King.

So I get to the salon (which is quite lovely, ladies. Quite lovely, indeed). This nice girl takes me to the back and begins to wash my hair (with Moroccan Oil products — so fancy, right?). But honestly, the washing part was the least of my concerns. Anyone can wash a head of hair! The question is, could this woman give me a blowout that was shining, bouncing, behaving and basically the greatest blowout the world has ever seen? I know, I was setting my expectations high. But I needed to trick my nerves into thinking everything was okay.

So my stylist finished blowing out my hair and curling it and she let me look in the mirror. I was basically panting and sweating profusely at that point and my coworker told me I look terrified. Maybe my horrified facial expression is why other stylists who walked by kept telling me that my hair looked great.

But I looked in the mirror and all was well! Check out the photos below.

For the sake of transparency, this photo was actually taken when I got home. But I didn’t touch my hair or anything.

This is a photo of the back of my head AT the salon. I didn’t like any of the photos I took at the salon with my face in them. I still had “post traumatic shock face”.

So basically, Dry Bar is awesome. They do a great job and you should go there. Blowouts are only $40 – no matter what you hair length or texture! Pretty rad, right? They also serve champagne. So that right there is a total win.

Roaring Hair

The 1920′s and 1930′s are creeping their way into pop culture and fashion in a major way — maybe because everyone used to be roaring rich and now we are all battling our own Great Depression? Well, that is a conversation for a different day.

Anyway, I am LOVING the finger waved bobs that are everywhere right now. So pretty, so feminine, and just as awesome today as they were ninety years ago!

This is my first official outfit post of 2012! I have been slacking on doing outfit posts in the winter because they usually involve standing outside freezing your backside off. Since the weather hasn’t been that cold lately, I put this one together.

I do love this look overall, though. It is a fun way to style the jean button-down shirt that is so popular right now.

My newest obsession? Neon. This love started about a month ago and now I am dying to get my hands on some perfect neon. I think it is shockingly flattering when styled correctly. I like it when girls go beyond the traditional neon shoe and wear a full-on neon dress. ADORBS.
