Little White Dress

I wore this dress to my rehearsal dinner. It was my first (and ended up being my last) exploration into buying vintage. I love this dress, but vintage clothes are kind of difficult. First, they are expensive. Then you have to take them to a tailor and get the hemlines taken up, the bust taken in, the straps reworked, and you always have to get them professionally cleaned. So you end up spending another $100 or so on the piece depending on how much ‘work’ needs to be done. Also, you never really get that musty smell out of vintage clothes. Anyway, this dress had been […]

Purple Swag

I’ve worn this dress before on the blog, but I never liked the way the light looked. It seemed like anytime I wore this dress it was either dark out (because, I mean, it IS more of an evening dress). Or it started to rain so we had to shoot inside. But I finally got the chance to shoot it properly! This is one of my favorite fancy dresses. This dress is also pretty easy to wear as a top if you pair it with a midi skirt. Shoes: Kate Spade (love these)| Dress: Asos (I am obsessed with this)

Keeping in Casual

I am not sure about you guys, but I have been getting eaten alive by mosquitos and spiders and other awful creepy crawlies that live outside. So I have been wearing pants (despite the humidity) to keep the critters away. I definitely need a good bug spray, stat! Also, prepare yourself to see more of this hairstyle. It is so easy and humidity-proof! Score! Shirt: C. Wonder (old, but love this) | Shoes: J.Crew Factory (similar) | Jeans: J. Crew Factory | Bag: Clare V p.s. Another piece I wrote for Mode is live! It is all about the insane […]

floral two piece

Flower Power

I am loving this floral two piece from Trunk Up Boutique. The particular look isn’t even officially on the site yet, but it will be later this week. I definitely recommend picking it up. I always like when you can buy a set like this because it ends up being so versatile since you can break up the two pieces and wear them with different items. Shoes: Nine West (similar) | Two Piece: Truck Up | Clutch: Nordstrom (love this) | Jacket: J. Crew

floral skirt black top and red shoes

Floral Fever

I love the vintage-inspired pattern on this skirt. It is pretty and it hides stains like a boss. Trust me, I know. Also I did have a lovely necklace for this post but it got lost somewhere in the depths of Hannah’s diaper bag. I may never find it again. Shoes: Nordstrom (there is a flat version that I NEED) | Skirt: Sincerely Sweet Boutique | Top — it’s actually a dress, though: Lulus (similar)

Color Your Spring

Richmond has some pretty awesome murals. They are all over the city and they are all so beautiful. The murals definitely adds some really unique charm to the town. And it makes location scouting for the blog a thousand times easier. 🙂 Also, I am so excited to share that I just signed on to write for Mode, a fun blogging network. I will be sharing some of my articles here from time to time if you’re interested in reading them. My first one is all about summer beach day must-haves. Can you tell I am so ready for summer? Shoes: Go Jane (similar) […]

Coffee Break

Let’s face it, work clothes can be boring. This is especially true when you work in a corporate setting or have a job working for the government. It is easy to fall into a black suit rut. Luckily, many advances have been made in work attire. You can look professional without boring yourself half to death. I have teamed up with Banana Republic to give you the most wearable work outfit ever. These three pieces can be mixed and matched for any work occasion from business meetings with top execs to casual Friday happy hours. This look in particular is more casual […]

Mixing and Matching

Mixing patterns is one of my favorite go-to looks. People will often say, ‘Oh I could never pull off so many different patterns.’ First of all, that is so not true. You got this. Second of all, mixing patterns is shockingly easy. It just looks like a sartorial feat. The first tip is to make sure the two patterns have similar colors. In this look, navy blue was the unifying shade. The second tip is to make sure one pattern is fairly basic to anchor the look. Stripes or polka dots are best for the anchoring print. The other print should be much […]

winter look

A Bold Winter

You don’t have to spend the entire winter wearing all black (though it is perfectly acceptable to do so). Sometimes, you need something bold to get you through the Polar Vortex. I especially love this skirt because it was made by a Beyonce-approved Brooklyn-based designer. Anything Beyonce loves, I also love. Like hot sauce in my bag and baby hair and afros. Obvi. Also, lets talk about this new chambray I’m wearing. You all know I am a bit of a chambray expert. This chambray top I got from Humble Chic is a new fave. It’s lightweight, super soft and it has pearl buttons. […]

Red Accents

It’s Valentine’s Day week! Valentine’s is not my favorite holiday, but I like wearing red — so I have an excuse to bombard all of you with tons of red this week. Annnyyyyway, I put together this look to show that you don’t have to get super dressy to look great this Valentine’s Day. If your Valentine’s Day plans include something more low-key or drinks with your girlfriends, you might not want to pull out your best cocktail dress. You can take an everyday outfit, add some festive accessories and have a perfect, comfy Valentine’s Day outfit that looks great but […]
